joy in the mundane

Joy in the Mundane
A phrase in an artwork that hangs in my daughter’s room. A gift from a good friend who is an amazing graphic artist. What can it mean to find joy in the mundane? What can turn mundane tasks or events in our lives into meaningful moments of ritual? How do we elevate or honor our experiences? Especially when navigating grief?
In the first few months after my pregnancy loss, I was gifted a couple bags of mint tea included in a card. This simple offering really changed my life. Navigating loss, at the start of the pandemic, I felt isolated & disconnected from everything in and around me. After receiving this gift, I bought myself a tea set and began Preparing+Drinking a cup of tea every morning. This small act invited in so much comfort, nourishment, and joy. Tea time was a ritual that could occupy my mind, my senses, providing some momentary relief from the all consuming grief that I was experiencing at the time.
How do you find joy in the mundane? How do you nurture your grief?
